Day 1 of 18: Grand European Tour
Keith and I embark today on a European journey, starting with the 15-day Viking Grand European Tour by river boat, followed by three days/two nights in Paris. I plan to post daily updates here on Blog Spot.
Today will be uneventful, as we depart from Detroit Metro Airport in the evening, arriving Tuesday morning to meet our Viking hosts and board the Viking Longship Skirnir.
Here's a map of the Viking Grand European Tour from Amsterdam to Budapest, along with the tour description by Viking:
"Admire Rhine Valley vistas from a 900-year-old castle. Sample the food and wine of Austria’s Wachau Valley. Learn the Viennese waltz and linger in Budapest’s Café Gerbeaud. Indulge all your senses on this 15-day journey spanning the best of Europe. Our most iconic itinerary traces the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers between the windmill-dotted waterways of Holland and the stunning landscapes of Hungary, with engaging encounters at every bend."
And here is a view of our home for the next 15 days. The Viking Longship Skirnir carries 190 passengers and 53 crew, is 443 feet in overall length and was built in 2015.
